| How it was painted | Here's how it was constructed: | |||
| Here's the first stage of the painting, the very important drawing layout of the composition. Perspectives are the trickiest part - a very technical side of the work! |

|||
| The location of the sun is chosen, and the shadows are cast. The under-painting is started - these are just base coat colours and will look nothing like this when the final coats are on. You can see the big spa and cover in the foreground of the photo. |

| Painting some ocean and sky. |

|||
| The distant hills and township beyond. Some wall colour undercoats are added. Ocean and sky top coats are finished. Balustrade details are added to the window balconies |

|||
| Final colour on the arches - these are painted in the colour that Linda and Greg chose to match in with the existing room. |

| The under-painting for the balcony floor will be lightened later with stone colours over the top. |

|
The floor has been gridded, and the
shadows added to the bottom of the pillars - this really gives a 3D
look! The pot plants, boats and people are being added. Some filler is added to the horizontal join line in the timber panel to try and hide it a bit better. |

|
Floor has stone tiles added, vertical
columns are done.
All that's left to do are pot plants, some shadows, balconies & table & chairs. |

| Finishing off the final touches: painting in the little dogs Harry and Sally, who greeted me each day when I arrived with my paint equipment. In the painting I imagine they are waiting for Linda and Greg to return from their walk to the seaside. |
