Palandri Wines - the Finished Murals

This page shows the finished results.

You can also see how the murals were constructed.

The old buildings called "The Terraces" on Coronation Drive, which house the Palandri offices, have historical value and are heritage listed. The building is very old and plaster was loose, so this company could not use nails on the walls to hang their promotional images. If they tried to hammer a picture hook in, a chunk of plaster fell out! The manager came up with the great idea of painting their posters directly on the wall.

In this project, Jacqueline Hill of Art at Heart painted an amazing 9 huge gecko murals, all in the company's unique wine bottle logo. A feature was a large Trompe L'Oeil painting in the boardroom and lots of gecko footprints leading visitors up the entrance stairs to the reception.

The office was absolutely transformed from the stark plain walls that were there before. Palandri staff and their clients loved the results and constantly exclaimed their joy at the result.

Here is the first of 4 identical geckos painted on a blue background. Jacqui even painted the dark blue - it involved dozens of climbs up and down long ladders as the ceilings in the old building were very high! The gold lettering was computer-cut to produce the most professional possible end result. See how they were painted.

Painting the Trompe L'Oeil masterpiece on the wall of their boardroom. The frame is painted on the wall too! Here Jacqueline is just finishing off sponging the frame on.

Here's what the view is like of the finished painting when you're sitting at the board table. See how it was painted.

Another 3 geckos were painted along the right side wall of the boardroom between the windows. They are huge images of the red wine bottle labels, each a different colour scheme.

Here is the purple one. Each of these three geckos had their own set of 7 colours in the design. Each colour was matched precisely to the colour on the relevant wine bottle label.

Here is the centre one with the bottles below.

The biggest gecko of all, the one we decided to call "the mother of all geckos" was - a 6 metre, 3-panel mural to be mounted overhead in the stairwell. Here it is finished, 6 metres of giant gecko guarding the stairwell! See how it was painted & constructed.
